Science - Refraction and Reflection

Aim: To investigate how light is affected by changing the substance it is travelling through.
Equipment:

  • Ray box
  • Power source
  • glass or perspex block, 
  • single-slit ray slide.
Method: 
  • Collect the equipment from your teacher, and set them up to produce a single beam of light.

Production Line Research


Last week we have been working on our research task about production line. Before we start our research we watched a video about how the cars are made before. For this research I am working with my friend Skyler. We have the rest of our lessons for this term to finish our research. We put all of our ideas in one doc then put in on slides. We used slides because it is easier and we don't have so much time to make a poster or any other way to present it.

Decade Research

For our literacy work we have been doing a decade research. This work needed to have some important events that happened for each decade. We started our work on 1900's to 2020. Me and my friends Skyler and Lhysette decided to be in a group for this task because this is to much work if we do it by ourselves.
We did our presentation research on google slides. While doing this task we are having our own slides to work on and once we finished it we will do other slides, so we know that years that we did.

Yesterday I started my political poster about the hero and villain that I choose. Our poster need to have a picture and slogan. I used canva for my poster because for me it is the easiest way. The person that I choose to do the poster about is Mother Teresa.

Dissection of an Eye

Aim: Be able to see and identify the different part of the eye and to see the actual look of different part of it
Equipment:
  • Dissecting Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Newspaper
  • Gloves
Method:
  • Remove any fats that left on the cow eye.
  • Poke the corner of the eye, be careful so the liquid inside will not explode all over you.
  • Cut the lens of the eye so you can see the things inside of it.
  • After you cut the lens cut the eye that will help you so see the whole thing inside it.
  • Once you cut all of it, you will see the different thing and liquid that the eye containing.
Findings:























                  After we finished the experiment we saw the different part of the eye. We also discover and saw the cool part of there which is the " Tapedum Lucidum". But while we are doing the experiment we have a hard time by poking the eye because it is so squishy and we are scared to get the liquid all over our clothes.

Conclusion: For me this experiment is really interesting because I don't have an idea what does it look like and also I find this experiment really helpful because doing a dissection of an eye will help us more and give us more simple detail to know the different parts of an eye.

Collective Nouns For Dogs

Today for our task in esol we are finishing our DLO about the collective nouns. I decided to do choose the collective nouns for puppies. The collective nouns for puppies is called " Litter of Puppies" on my DLO I put some things and facts about them. I put some adjectives about them, where do they live, and what do they eat. For my DLO I used slides to present it, because I don't have a lot of things to say so I want it to be simple. This is my work.

Heroes and Villains - Poster

After we finished our timeline we have another task and it is the same topic but different activity. We need to make a poster and put some key points about the leader that we choose. Key points means some interesting facts or some things that describing your topic. We can do our posters on paper or online. I decided to use canva because it is easier for me to do it online.

Power To The People Timeline

Yesterday we did some research about different heroes and villains, we have to choose only person and do a timeline about their life. I decided to choose Kim Jong Un, since a lot of people saying that he is has a lot of interesting facts about him. We start our topic about different leader yesterday so it will be easy for us to do the upcoming activities and task about leaders. I use Piktochart to do my timeline. Today for our business studies, we started our new topic. Our topic is " Opportunity cost", opportunity cost means having a choice or make a choice base of the value of the items that you can choose on. Types Of Government - Power to the people

On week 7 we started our presentation about different types of government. We have been looking what is the definition of each types of government. For this work we can do it as a group or individual. Me and my friends Skyler and Rieya work as a group because we just have to do it for some weeks and if we did it individually we will take to much time.
On our presentation we need to have the definition, leader for each type of government and the links that we use to get some ideas. There is 7 types of government that we need to do some research. This is the presentation that we did.

Women Who Created Change - Power To The People

For our lesson in Power to the People we are doing a presentation about the women who created changes in New Zealand. We have to make a DLO, we can make it using different ways and I decided to make it using "Piktochart".
The women who created change that you will see on my DLO are Jacinda Ardern, Mother Teresa, Kate Sheppard and Whina Cooper. I did some research about them that I can put to my DLO. P.E. - Table Tennis and Juggling

For our physical education we have been doing some table tennis and juggling. We have been doing this for almost 3 weeks. For some of us both of these activities are new, specially the juggling. We did different kind of juggling. Also we needed to put a picture to our blog of ourselves while doing these 2 things.

For juggling , the first thing is we need to be able to do it using 2 juggling scarves and after that we need to move on and try to do it with 3 juggling scarves. Juggling using 2 juggling scarves is easier than 3 because with 3 juggling scarves is trickier compare to the other one. Last week, our teachers told us that we needed to show them that we know how to juggle so they can put that on our record. We needed to do this with 2 and 3 juggling scarves but I can't do it with 3 so I only did it with 2.

We also did table tennis. At first we just played it so we can learn how to play it and to know the rules. Also same with juggling we need to show the teacher that we know how to play it. Our teacher told us that we needed to be able to do 10 rallies against to ourselves, we are doing this by playing against the wall. We also needed to be able to get 20 rallies with someone. Me and my friend Skyler got 13 and  that is our highest score. I am quite happy to our score because we are able to do it at least 10 rallies. I really enjoyed playing this games and I hope I can play them again.

Marshmallow Shooter

Hypothesis: I think this activity will be successful and we are be able to make a marshmallow shooter. 
Equipment:
  1. 1 clean cup
  2. 1 balloon
  3. 1 pair of scissors
  4. 1 marshmallow
Method:
  1. Cut the bottom off the cup with the scissors.
  2. Cut the balloon half way along the neck.
  3. Stretch the balloon over the bottom of the cup.You may find this a bit tricky to start with, but after making a few it becomes easy.
  4. Pop your marshmallow into the cup.
  5. Fire the missile by pulling the knotted neck of the balloon back and letting it go. You will be surprised at how far it can travel
  6. The open end will fold together when you stretch the balloon, but this will not stop the missile from firing.
Results (Describe what you saw, take a pic/video):


Discussion (What were the energy changes happening,
explain what you saw): This activity has kinetic and elastic energy.
It has elastic energy because while doing this activity we have
to pull the balloon we are making a motion. And it has a kinetic
energy because when we released the balloon the marshmallow
flew away from the cup.
Conclusion (Was your hypothesis correct, did the experiment work?): Our experiment work because once we are done to our experiment and try it to a marshmallow we made it flew away by doing to right step that we have to do. We pull knot that we created to the balloon and release it after that the marshmallow flew away.

Romance And Fiction

Characters: Violet Markey and Theodore Finch

For our Power to the People we to read a book and put on our blog about what happen to the story, we have are going to do this for 10 minutes every start of our period. The book that I decided to read is
"All the bright places" by Jennifer Niven. This book is about a girl called Violet who learn to live from the boy called Finch who wants to die.

                                                                   Chapter 1

Finch went to the rooftop of 6 stories building, he stand at the edge of the building and he said that " Maybe today is the best day" he look down to see the city. After some time there is some students who look up to him, some of them starts to panic but one student said that " Oh well, It's just Theodore Freak. Until he saw a girl that standing not that far from him. The girl has dark- blond hair, her skirt and hair is swaying because of the wind. Finch realise that he can see her in the hallways, the girl start to talk and said " Take it from me, the worst thing you can do is look down.
They start to have a conversation. But after some time Violet got drag by the wind and almost fall out from the building.

"OhGodOhGOd" she said while trying to keep herself safe and not to fall. Finch try to hold her but Violet said " Don't try to save me you will just kill yourself, but Finch said "Here's what I think we should do. Throw you shoes towards the bell and hold into the rail and just grab in it." he can see Violet is really scared and said " after you've got it lean against it and lift your right foot and over, got that" he asked her while Violet just give him a nod.Violet throw her boots towards the bell and fall with a "thud, thud" onto the concrete, Finch start to count " One, Two, Three" as violet start to grip to the stone and props herself against it, she lifts her leg up and over so that she' s sitting on the railing. She stares down at the ground and Finch notice that still scared so he said " Good job, now stop looking down".

They talk for a while and Violet stand and say " Thank you for saving me" she gives a little kiss on Finch's cheek, she take her boots and walk away. Right after Violet left Mr. Embry, the school counselor went to Finch with his best-friend behind him. " Great, just great!" Mr. Embry said and scold Finch. Once the school counselor walked away Finch's best friend Charlie said " Why did you do that Man!" Finch replied "Why not?". "Because we are all gonna die so stop rushing everything! Charlie said. Finch said " I just helped Violet". After they both talk for a while they both went down and as always his friend keep taking about pizza.

Friday morning  Violet went to the school counselor to have a little char about somethings that is happening to Violet. She is having a nightmare and Mrs. Marion Krensey knows about it. She's not very nervous because Mrs. Krensey is a sweet woman and Violet knows that she is not the type of the person that talk to you directly. They have a little chat about random things until Mrs. Krensey said ask er about her experience in the past few days.

After Mrs: Krensey asked how was Violet she shifts her chair with smile plastered of her face as she asked Violet " Let's talk about college" Mrs: Krensey said. Violet really like this time of conversation, she actually used to talk about it with her mom and dad. They will sit outside if it is warm and stay inside if it is to cold. They would imagine the places they would go and the people we would meet, far away from Bartlett.

They talked for a while about different universities until Mrs; Krensey asked Violet to talk about writing and websites.  She know that Mr; Krensey means Eleanorandviolet.com, they started it after they moved to Indiana. They both want to create an online magazines with two different perspective on fashion. Last year Eleanor's friend Gemma Sterling mentioned us in an interview and our following tripled. But Violet haven't touched the site since Eleanor died, because Violet think that there is not point doing that.

It's a site about sister, besides in that instant we went plowing through the guardrail. I don't want to talk about site, Violet said. Mrs. Krensey asked Violet, I believe your mother is an author, She must be very helpful in giving advice. Writing is difficult that writers having had their hell on earth will escape all the punishment here after. Mrs Krensey stated.
