Writing Challenge

A beautiful view of mountain and trees that we can see. There are big and beautiful shapes of mountains with different types of trees.  Different sizes of boats, blue clear water and clean water are the best things that really pretty. Ella sat on the boat because of the beautiful view that she can see from there, she smile and relaxing while scanning the beautiful place. 

Ella was enjoying her vacation because she did a lot of work so she decided to have some time to relax herself. She went here to spend her weekend alone because she thinks that being alone a best way to relax. She start to drive the boat and started to scan the place while smiling to the other people that she can see while wondering. She changed her clothes and jumped into the water to swim, she enjoyed it because the temperature of the water made her feel relaxed.

Swimming happily, enjoying the water, Ella suddenly saw a little girl fall from the boat and got shocked. The parents can't help their child because they don't know how to swim. Ella hesitated to help her since Ella is just learning some few lessons about swimming. She can hear the parents crying and asking for help but she can't do anything because she's scared.

Ella closed her eyes and take a deep breathe, she start to swim towards the girl and hoping the she can save her. Ella successfully bring the little girl back into the boat and the girl stop crying. The parents of the girl thank her and offer her a money but she refused it because she just did the right thing. They chat for awhile and Ella start to swim back to her boat, she's still shocked about what happened but she just ignore it and enjoy the rest of her vacation.

Day 2 SLJ - Sport & Leisure

Hello everyone, today we are going to do a new activity for our summer learning journey, we need to pick another activity that we want to do for today, we already did one activity on Monday. On Monday I picked the activity that we need to make our own profile page about Lorde, and for today I picked the activity that telling us to make a four simile sentences also this activity already gave us some phrases that can help to make up our own sentence so it's more easier now to do this activity.
This is the words/phrases that we can use to make our own sentences:

• ...is as fast as...
• ...is as tall as...
• ...is as small as...
• ...is beautiful like...

This is the sentences that I make using this phrases;

1. The runner ran as fast as cheetah.
2. His height is as tall as giraffe. 
3.  A marble is as small as a blueberry. 
4. Her face is beautiful like roses.

SLJ - Day 1

Subject I would like to learn

Today we need to do a blogpost, this blogpost need to show what subject would you like to learn that isn't offered in Hornby High School. For me I think I would love to learn a different language but since we already have Japanese class here I like to do the different one. I like to learn how to speak Korean, this language is the language that I really like to learn how to speak because it's really good. Also I pick this because I want to learn some lessons about how to speak using Korean language,since I just know some basics word like Hello and thank you in Korean, I also like watching Korean Dramas so I like to learn how to speak so I don't have to use a subtitles and to try something new. 

I started to have interest about Korean language because I really like k-pop, and also I like to learn how to speak this language because it's really cool that you can speak different language. Also I want to learn this because maybe soon I can go to Korean and use this language. 

         

Pinecone challenge

Today for our community impact project we are gonna make our own pinecone design, we have a chance to make our own design of pinecone. First thing the we did is we make our planning about what design we are going to make for our pinecone challenge, we need to show our planning to one of the teacher so they can sign in up and we can start decorating our pinecone. For my pinecone I decided to make a simple one, so I decided to make a Christmas Tree since the Christmas is near. I used green paint, glitter paint and I put a pompom at the top of the pinecone as a star in the Christmas Tree. It didn't take me that long because I just need to paint is and use glue gun for the pompom and let it dry for a minute. I will take my pinecone at home so I can put it at my room as a display because it looks like a mini Christmas tree. I really enjoy doing this because we already did it to our art so I know what I'm supposed to do. I really enjoy this activity and I love to do it again.

Kindness Banners

In week 4 we started to do our kindness banners, first we make our planning so we can't make a mess or we can't waste the paint when we do it on the large piece of paper, we also did this activity in groups of 4 or 5 we have 5 people in our group that's why we finish it early. For our banner we decided to make a simple one because we only can make our banner every Wednesday and not all of us can do it because we also need to attend to our passions. Our banner have a simple message saying " A little more kindness, A little less Judgement" we pick this message because we think that is meaningful and helpful to make our banner become more interesting, for our background we just draw a world and paint it, we pick this background because it showing that spreading kindness all over the world. The teachers is going to pick some amazing banners to display to our school and spread kindness to our school, we also gonna display it to our new kahui's to let the other students here in our school about our project and what we are doing for our community impact project. Where would you go?

Kamusta! Today we are gonna write about places that we want to go on holiday, and why we picked that place. I have a lot of choices but I really want to go to France. France is one of the popular and beautiful country in the world, some celebrities is also living there, France is also the place that holding some concert of famous band/singer/celebrities.

I want to go to France because I want to try some new things, one of my friend is currently living and France and when we are talking she always tell some interesting places is France, she also saying that France is pretty place there. I also want to go there to go to the different places, try some foods and I really want to go Eiffel Tower, we all know that this tower is one of the popular tower all over the world, some people that visiting France is always going here to take some pictures and to spend their time there. France is one of the place that I really want to go to and I hope someday I can have a chance to go their with my family/friends.

           

Badminton Competition

Last week on  Monday we start to do our competition in Badminton, I am one of the year 7/8 participant for our badminton competition. We did our competition at Zhu Badminton Center, you can find this badminton center at Wigram. Before we go to this competition we start to have some training here at school, we have practice at Monday lunch time and Wednesday after school. Most of our players is a Filipino student here in Hornby.

We have some practice for almost a month and our coach start to make a group for our competition. At my group I have Janel, Lhysette and me, every group need to have 3 members. At the day of our competition we left at school before 8 so we can arrived early at the Badminton Center.

There are also different school that we are going play with. At the first day we played against 4 different teams from different schools. I won all of my game at singles and doubles, after our game we start to meet other student from other school and that't really cool because I make new friends.

At Tuesday we did the same thing but this is the last day of our competition so they also gonna tell us the winner for our competition. The mix team is got the 3rd place, the boys team got the 2nd place and our team girls team got the 1st place for this competition. I really enjoy this competition and I think I'm gonna join at badminton again next year.

Community Impact Project

Today is our first day of our community impact project this term. Since we do a lot of activity last term our teacher gave us a chance to share our ideas so we can make a new activity for our community impact project this term. The ideas that we have need to have a connection to our community impact project, in our community impact project we are focusing in kindness so we need to think some ideas/activity that we can do this term that have a connection to kindness. Here are some idea that I have:

• Maybe we can write a letter or make a card again for the special person to our life and to the people that help us a lot and let they know that we appreciate their help us.
• We can do more of group work with different people so we can make and know new people to our community impact project.
• Maybe we can do more planning about mufti and collect some gold coins and give it to the charity that helping the children for their needs.
• We can also give some gifts to the people that staying at the hospital so we make them feel better even if a little bit.
• Maybe be we can help the homeless people by giving them some foods before Christmas and gave them some gifts too. 

I suggest this ideas because I want to help the people that needs some help and to try something new that I didn't try before and to help to spread kindness to our community. 

Cooking Tech - Pizza

Today for our Cooking Tech we made our own pizza with our own toppings. For my pizza I just used a plain base, I used tomato sauce for my base and I also used mushroom, cheddar cheese, pineapples, salami and capsicum as a toppings to my pizza. After we finish making our pizza we fan-bake it for 180 degrees and let it cook for 7-10 minutes, after the pizza already cook we let it cool for a minute before we eat it. After we ate we start to wash the dishes that we used for our cooking and start to clean the table.  I really enjoy this session because now I know how to make a pizza in simple way and I'm happy that I try something new that I didn't try before.

P.E - Hurumanu

Today for our P.E hurumanu we did a new game/activity. For this activity we need to get to our team and play against other team, we just playing against small team because our activity don't need to be in a big group. This activity is we need to make our own game just by using the equipment that they give to you.

• Rugby ball
• One hoop

That is the equipment that we use to make our own game, if the equipment is not enough for your game you are allowed to ask for more and if you need to use the other teams equipment you also allowed to. The other team game is touch, they also have a same rules to regular touch so it's not confusing for us because we all played touch. Our game is very simple we choose to make it simple because we don't have a lot of time to explain it to the other team s we choose to make is simple.

This is the rules that we have for our game. The goal of our game you have to reach the end of the other court and if you're team reach it you are the winner.

• You need to kick the ball towards the other team you are not allowed to throw is or anything.
• To get a points and to have a chance to move forward you and you teammates have to catch the ball.
• You just have to repeat it again and again until you reach the end of the court.

For this activity I think we work well but I think we need to improve our team work because sometimes we are just playing but we didn't understand the game so I think we have to learn how to do the other activity as a team so we can do our activity properly. But for me I think we need to use the other type of ball, it's better if we use a regular ball because it's easy to kick and to catch because it circle. And we like to play this game outside because sometimes when we kick the ball it's hitting the ceiling and the wall so it means that our space it not enough for our game and we need to play this the bigger game or at the field.

P.E HURUMANU

For our last day of P.e hurumanu we play dodge ball, we play it but with any other rules. It's like we combined dodge ball and bench ball. We play in big team so its kinda hard to avoid the balls. After we play some game we have a chance give ourselves a rate and this is the rate that i gave to myself and the reason why i gave this rate to myself.

I gave myself this rating because I include myself to our game and I’m playing it properly and I’m not playing around. I also give myself this rating because I’m using positive words to my teammates even at the other team, I’m not saying bad words to others.

What was something that was challenging about today’s activity? For the challenging part for today playing dodgeball, It’s challenging for me because we are playing in big team, we are paying in big team and are using many balls so it's kinda hard for us to avoid it because sometimes when you are trying to avoid it anothers ball can hit you.

How did I overcome this challenge? To overcome this challenge we use our team work, we use it because when the other got hit we are trying to throw the ball as far as we can so they can catch it and they can play again. We also protect each other from the ball so our members will not get out.

Get to know me

Kamusta, I'm Shiela, I'm 13 years old. I make this blog post to introduce myself to others that don't know me well. We made this blog post to help Ms. Birtch to know us in a simple way and also our other classmates that don't know about us that good. Here are my introduction and my hobbies that I love to do.

• I just got here in New Zealand last year and start to go to school this year so I don't have a lot friends, because I study at the Philippines till I got year 7.

• I love playing badminton, in fact I am one of the lucky student that going in the tournament to represent our school. I learn how to play badminton because my sister taught me how to play. 

• I like watching scary movie if I have free time and if I don't have anything to do. I like to watch this with my sister but if my parents is have a free time they also joining with us watching some movies.

• I like k-pop and watching some k-dramas, I used to go to BTS concert it the Philippines, this group is my favourite group in k-pop. My friends are also like them. We really like their songs and they are good at dancing. That's why I like them. This is one of their song that I love to listen.

• I am the youngest to the three of us. I have a big brother but he is in the Philippines to study his collage and my older sister is also studying here in Hornby High, she is studying as a year 12 student here.

• I love eating sushi, I always buy some if I have extra money. I like them because they are delicious. 

• I also love reading wattpad because some of the stories their in interesting and my friends is giving me some suggestion about some stories that they read at wattpad. 

• I used to study on one of the province in the Philippines before I moved to Manila when I was studying as a year 6. We moved to Manila because my brother need to study in collage.

• I also love listening to some of the Filipino songs because they are so good and some of the singer is writing their own song and it's really nice. But I really like listening to Justin Bieber songs. This song is nothing like us by Justin Bieber.

P.E Hurumanu - Pancake War

For our p.e hurumanu our teacher introduce to us a new game called 'Pancake War' he said that this game playing by the seniors but we give it a try. He explain to us how we can play this game, also this game have a lot of rules and things that we need to remember so we can play it properly.

Since this is the first time that I played this game I get confused but I understand it when we start playing the game, we play this game class against class. I really enjoy this hurumanu.

This is my first time playing this game of it's kinda hard for me to understand it, especially since there are so many rules in this game. So I just decided to ask some of our members so I can contribute to our team even i little things 

How did I overcome this challenge?

Even if I can't properly understand the game and I’m confused to our game I just keep playing and it helps me to understand the game and because i understand it i gave a little contribution and help my team even if we lose at least we try our best and every each of us gave a contribution and we have a team work.

Mohua Bird

For our community impact project today our teacher gave is a task, this task is like bingo they gave us a choices of tasks that we can do for today. Your goal for this task in to have a bingo by finishing the task that you want to do. This is fun because we have a lot of choice. I did a DLO first, this DLO is about the bird of our kahui, mohua is the bird that we have in our kahui so I did a little research about mohua and here what I found.
