Women Suffrage Protest

Yesterday we have been learning about different types of protests. We watched some videos that showing the different protests. Sit Ins, riots, disruption and marches are some example of protests, we watched this videos so we can have an idea and to help us to understand it for our last task this term. After we watched all the video we need to choose one topic or protest that we can do a research. All of our choice are the protests that happened in New Zealand. The topic that I decided to do a research is the Women's Suffrage. This protest is about women rights to vote, and how did they get the rights to vote.

  Women's Suffrage

September 19 1893 when New Zealand became the first self - governing country or given the women a right to vote. This protest about the rights for women to vote happened in the late 19th century.protest. Kate Sheppard led the group of women that are protesting. Kate Sheppard realized that having the right to vote would give them a power to campaign for their rights as a woman.

Who was involved?
Almost all of the women in our country went and contributed in this protest with their leader Kate Sheppard. September 19 2013 New Zealand celebrated the 120th anniversary.

Why were they protesting?
The women's suffrage movement happened when women’s right convention was held in Seneca Falls New York. Women began to realize that in order to achieve reform, they needed to win their right to vote.  Kate Sheppard is the most prominent leader of this important

What was the outcome?
This protest lasted almost a decade and it is nearly 100 years before the fight ended. It takes so much time before women get the right to vote and protesting and campaigning is not easy at all. There are a lot of disagreements during that time. After almost a decade they finally get the right to vote.
