Speeding Investigation

Aim: To see if any cars are speeding outside school.

Method:

  1. Measure distance...power pole -----> power pole = 50m
  2. Time how long it takes a car to travel this distance.
- "flag" person indicates when car passes their pole.
- "Timer" person starts when car passes their pole.
- "Writer" person writes down times.
      3. Collect 10 times.
      4. Calculate speed in m/s -----> convert to km/hr.
      5. Are there any speeders?

Result:

Conclusion:
After this activity, I noticed that we have a different results showing that not all the cars have the same speed. They all have a different speed base on the time that we got, some are slow and some are fast. After we've done all the calculation we saw that car 9 is speeding because they are travelling 52.2 km hr. The other ones are almost have the same speed.

This activity show us that not all the cars are following the speed limit in the road and all of them has different speed. However, I think the principal should be worried about this report and do an action before something happen. We all know every after school hours there are a lot of cars, if there is car that are speeding it can cause an accident. But to make this investigation maybe we can do it in different road around the school and try to investigate more car to make our result more accurate.
