Wananga Reflection - Bullying/Cyber-Bullying

What is bullying?

It is about hurting someone physically or mentally in many different ways. Bullying someone smaller or weaker than you. You can call it bullying if you can that there is an imbalance of power. It is bullying when it is happening over and over again, however, it's not bullying if it just happened once. Two people can be involved in bullying, you can be the victim or the bully.

  • Victim - The victim is the person that got hurt, most of the victim in bullying is someone who doesn't have any friends or someone weak compare to others.
  • Bully - This person is the one who keeps hurting or saying a lot of mean things to another person. Bullies can bully someone not just in person but also online. This is called "Cyber-bullying".

What is Cyber-Bullying?

Cyberbullying is bullying online, most of these issues are happening on social media. You can get mean texts saying anything to insult you. Cyberbullying is common now since most teenagers have social media. Same with normal bullying, you will see an imbalance of power. If you are experiencing cyberbullying do the 3 simple steps as soon as you got the message. Block, report, and tell an adult.

If you think you're getting bullied telling an adult will be the best option to do. But, if you think you are the bully and you're bullying them online or in person, you should stop. We never know what they are going through and bullying them is not helpful.
