In social studies, we started our new topic. We will be looking and talking about the war that happened in Vietnam. Many people all over the world are against in it, even New Zealand. I will be looking to those songs that is written about the war and how bad this war happened.
Tittle of the song: "Vietnam" by Jimmy Cliff
Hey, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Yesterday, I got a letter from my friend fighting in Vietnam
And this is what he had to say
"Tell all my friends that I'll be coming home soon
My time'll be up sometime in June
Don't forget", he said, "To tell my sweet Mary
Her golden lips are sweet as cherry"
And it came from Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
It was just the next day, his mother got a telegram
It was addressed from Vietnam
Now mistress Brown, she lives in the USA
And this is what she wrote and said
"Don't be alarmed", she told me the telegram said
"But mistress Brown, your son is dead"
And it came from Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, hey, Vietnam
Somebody please stop that war now
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, oh
Vietnam, Vietnam, oh
Vietnam, oh oh, oh oh
Somebody please stop it
Vietnam, Vietnam, oh
Vietnam, Vietnam, oh oh, oh oh
Vietnam, hey, Vietnam, aha
Vietnam, oh oh, yeah
I wanna say now somebody stop that war
Vietnam, oh yeah, aha
What is the message of the song? The lyrics of this showing how the people dreaming to stop the war because they are loosing the men on their family. Also it is written to show and give support to those soldiers that are fighting to be able to give the country the peace.
Hi Shiela!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post! I like how you included the lyrics and video of the song you chose. I also like how you labelled it nice and neatly. What you could perhaps do next time to improve your blog is to proofread your post and make sure it is correct spelling. For instance, in your title you misspelled it 'An Anti' as 'A Anti' which is quite wrong. But overall, you really did a splendid blog post =)
Hi Sheila,
ReplyDeleteI like you blog post, its nice and direct. I love the inclusion of the song as well as the lyrics. However, it would be better to add more detail and information about the message of the song and the general outlooks about 'The Beatles'. Nonetheless this is a great blog post.
